Has a judgment been issued against you and you want to object? Or has an administrative decision been issued that you want to challenge? The most dangerous thing in litigation is the legal deadline: one day late can make a judgment final and beyond challenge. The legal deadlines calculator works out the last day for an appeal, a Supreme Court objection, a petition for reconsideration or a grievance, in both Gregorian and Hijri dates.

How the calculator works

  • The start day itself is not counted; the period runs from the following day.
  • If the last day falls on the weekend (Friday or Saturday), the period extends to the next working day.
  • Eid and other official holidays are not added automatically; if the last day falls on one, the same rule applies and it extends to the next working day.
  • The result is shown in both Gregorian and Hijri (Umm al-Qura) dates.

The most-used deadlines

Step Period Runs from
Appeal against a first-instance judgment 30 days Receipt of the judgment copy, or the date set for receiving it
Appeal in urgent matters 10 days Receipt of the judgment copy
Objection before the Supreme Court 30 days Receipt of the appeal judgment copy
Petition for reconsideration 30 days Knowledge of the ground, depending on the case
Grievance against an administrative decision 60 days Knowledge of the decision

For details read the Court of Appeal and ways to object, an objection memorandum template and deadlines before the Board of Grievances.

The calculator is indicative; the reference is the current official text and what the court decides in your case. If the deadline is close, do not rely on the calculator alone; contact a lawyer immediately.

Frequently asked questions

When does the appeal period start?

From the date the judgment copy is received, or from the date the court set for receiving it if the party did not attend to receive it.

I missed the objection deadline. Is that the end?

The judgment usually becomes final, leaving limited exceptional routes such as a petition for reconsideration in its defined cases.

Are periods counted in Hijri or Gregorian?

Periods in days are the same in both calendars, and the calculator shows the last day in both.
