The Traffic Law and Traffic Violations: Types and How to Object

Did you receive a traffic violation message you believe is wrong? Or have violations piled up and blocked your services? The Traffic Law sets the violations and their fines, and allows objecting to a violation online and then before the competent body. Here are the steps, when an objection usually succeeds, and the effect of unpaid violations.

General types of traffic violation

Serious violations may lead to penalties beyond a fine, such as impounding the vehicle or referral for investigation. The violation tables and fines are set by the Traffic Law and its regulations; check the current official text.

How to object to a traffic violation

  1. Look up the violation and its details (place, time, photo if any) on Absher.
  2. Submit the objection online through the violation objection service on Absher within the set period from the date the violation was recorded.
  3. State the reason for the objection clearly and attach supporting proof.
  4. Follow the result; if accepted the violation is cancelled, and if rejected you may appeal to the competent body under the law.

When does an objection usually succeed?

  • The vehicle was not at the place at the time, or had been sold or stolen.
  • A mistake in the plate number or vehicle type in the photo.
  • The vehicle was with someone else under a documented authorisation, and the violation is transferred to the actual driver under the procedure.
  • The same violation was recorded twice for the same incident.

What if violations are not paid?

Accumulated violations may block renewal of the registration or licence, or suspend some services until paid. This differs from suspension of services in court enforcement.
